I remember vividly when the mobile phone first became widely accessible. The ability to connect with individuals and, with the advent of smartphones, access information from anywhere became revolutionary.
As I discuss in my book Afro-Optimism Unleashed, this digital revolution has been transformative, particularly for those of us in Africa. I recall a specific instance early in my career when I needed to collaborate with a team based in Europe on a critical project. Without the advancements in communication technology, this collaboration would have been significantly more challenging and time-consuming. Technology not only bridged the geographical gap but also enabled a seamless exchange of ideas and resources, ultimately contributing to the project’s success.
